What harmful substances are present in our everyday life?

Let’s consider the most dangerous ones that we have to watch out:

1. Bisphenol

Chemical called bisphenol is typically found in plastic and paper products. Bisphenol changes human fat cells. It has been found that bisphenol accelerates 2 biological mechanism for obesity:

- Increases the number of fat cells in the body;

- Accelerates the accumulation of fat.

Thus, the use of plastic dishes and other plastic things at home can affect not only the production of more fat cells but also to increase their size.

Bisphenol also causes a reduction in sperm viability in men, causes the  dysfunction of the ovaries in women, leads to thyroid disease and obesity. According to a study presented at the annual meeting of the American Society for Reproductive Medicine in Boston, elevated levels of BPA in the blood increase the risk of miscarriage in pregnant women by 80%.

2. PVC curtains for the bathroom

Curtains made of PVC (polyvinyl chloride) emit more than 100 chemicals into the air, including the compound "obesogen", which also raises the level of  fat cells in people .Warm  showers speed  the emitting of  this toxic substance several times.

3. Formaldehyde

Potted plants reduce formaldehyde levels in  building materials (in particular in areas of new construction). Almost all things in our home contain remains of  formaldehyde. It can be even found in carpets and wooden furniture. David Suzuki Foundation warns that formaldehyde can also be found in nail polish and cosmetics, also in products for cleaning the house. According to various researches, formaldehyde decreases fertility in women and men.

4. Have you got cellulite? The reason is parabens!

Avoid buying products in the composition of which you see a word "paraben" ( or methyl paraben, ethyl paraben, propyl paraben).

Parabens are  synthetic chemicals that act in the body similar to estrogen. Estrogen is a hormone, and if it is in excess in the body, it  increases fat in the lower part of the  body, resulting in  cellulite; increases the symptoms of PMS, causing ovarian endometriosis and other diseases.

However, not only women should worry about parabens. In Belgium, was conducted a research aimed at studying of the effects of parabens on the reproductive health of men. It was revealed that parabens have extremely high toxicity and adversely affect  male reproductive function.

5. You can not get rid of  abdominal fat? Stay away from phthalates

Like parabens, phthalates disrupt the endocrine system, deteriorating  physiological production of hormones, especially estrogen.

Phthalates are used in many household goods, including water bottles, soap, shampoo and cosmetics, plastic containers, pipes, and even some medications.

Researchers from the University of Rochester Medical Center, proved that high levels of phthalates in the body cause abdominal obesity, insulin resistance and the development of  diabetes of the 2nd type  in men. The study showed that in the urine of men who had abdominal obesity and insulin resistance, the level phthalates was high.
