In the morning of 4/8/2017, the Poison Control Center - Bach Mai Hospital held a medical examination, treatment and free delivering of a health supplement PECTIN COMPLEX to 50 children in Bac Giang province that have exceeded thresholds of lead level. Attending the examination were Mr. Ong The Vien, Director of Bac Giang Provincial Health Department, Mr. Nguyen Duc Toan, Vice Chairman of the Commune People's Committee; Representatives of the sponsors of the program are Pectin Technology Co., Ltd., the official importer of PECTIN COMPLEX, WIT PHARMA Co., Ltd, and the director of Nam Viet Pharmaceutical Development and Investment Joint Stock Company.

Speaking at the program, Ong The Vien said that this is a very meaningful and necessary activity. There are currently about 50 cases of lead poisoning in Bac Giang. Most cases of lead poisoning are caused by family habits of using traditional medicines for oral hygiene. However, there are also some cases who have never used such medicines yet but still got poisoned. In the coming time, the Department of Health will continue to coordinate activities with the local authorities to analyze and test all lead poisoning cases to find out the reason, if it is due to environmental or food pollution.

According to Prof. Dr. Pham Due, former director of the Poison Control Center, Bach Mai Hospital: Around 600,000 children worldwide suffer from intellectual disabilities from exposure to lead every year; 99% of children affected by high level of exposure to lead are from low income and middle income countries. In Vietnam, there are no comprehensive statistics on this condition, but over the past few years, many children with lead poisoning have had convulsions that undoubtedly affected their intelligence.

Lead poisoned children often have abnormal mental, physical and intellectual symptoms. If the child is mildly poisoned, he/ she is often irritable, crying or stubborn, naughty, or disobedient. In the more serious cases, paralysis may occur, anemia, seizures and coma. Lead poisoned adults often suffer from anorexia, loss of sleep, have headaches, anemia, loss of health and memory...

In this program, children will be consulted by doctors, the  samples of blood and urine will be analyzed regularly during the course of support treatment of children using PECTIN COMPLEX.
